Debt payoff spreadsheet

A debt payoff spreadsheet that shows exactly when you will be debt-free and how much interest you will save by paying extra. Choose snowball (smallest balance first) or avalanche (highest interest first), enter your debts, and the sheet calculates your path. No app subscription, no bank connection.

The template — copy it

Select the table, copy it, and paste it into Google Sheets or Excel. Column widths and formulas are described below the table. No sign-up, no download, nothing leaves your browser until you paste it into your own sheet.

Sort by balance for snowball, by APR for avalanche. Months to payoff ≈ balance ÷ (min + extra) for a quick estimate; for exact amortization use a payoff calculator with the APR formula.

How to use this template

  1. List each debt: balance, interest rate, minimum payment.
  2. Enter how much extra you can pay each month beyond minimums.
  3. Choose snowball or avalanche method — the sheet shows the difference in total interest and payoff date.
  4. Watch the payoff timeline update as you adjust the extra payment.
  5. Print the schedule and track actual payments against the plan.

What is inside

Why a spreadsheet beats an app for debt

Debt apps often require linking accounts and charge monthly fees that slow your payoff. A spreadsheet keeps your numbers private, works offline, and lets you model scenarios without a subscription. You update it when you make a payment — the discipline of manual entry reinforces awareness.
