September 10, 2026: evidence corrections

  • Monarch Money Review: Household Access and Limitations: Correction, September 10, 2026: We withdrew the unsupported paid-test narrative, incident log and 4.6/5 score. The previous claim that one household member could keep a connected account invisible to the others was incorrect. This replacement is based on the linked provider documentation.
  • Budgeting Apps for Couples: Choose the Sharing Model: Correction, September 10, 2026: The earlier six-week test, paired-account observations, performance claims and product rankings were not supported by verified records. They have been removed. This page now distinguishes documented features from a suggested decision process.
  • July 2026 CPI: Corrected Official Figures: Correction, September 10, 2026: The September 4 correction still misstated July CPI. Headline figures are 0.1% monthly / 3.4% over twelve months; core figures are 0.2% / 2.5%, per the linked August 12 BLS release. Unsupported forecasts and the old FAQ have been removed.
  • How We Evaluate Budgeting Apps: Evidence and Limits: Correction, September 10, 2026: Earlier claims of three tester households, four-week paid trials and measured scores were not substantiated. They are withdrawn. The current standard is source-based evaluation, with limitations stated openly.
  • Budgeting Categorization: Synthetic Example, Not a Test: Retraction, September 10, 2026: The named eight-app / 500-transaction benchmark, accuracy league table and resulting product endorsements were unsupported and have been removed.
  • Budgeting App Prices: Dated Quotes and Billing Checks: Correction, September 10, 2026: The unsupported historical price-change log, test-account claims and ten-app verification claim were withdrawn. The table below contains only explicitly scoped information from the linked sources.
  • Editorial Standards and AI Use | Vault Daily: Updated September 10, 2026: This policy now accurately describes automated drafting, review and publishing; unsupported claims of universal human verification and editorial independence have been removed.
  • Budgeting App Privacy: A Document-Checking Guide: Correction, September 10, 2026: The earlier ten-provider privacy classifications and claimed line-by-line investigation were not supported by retained evidence. They have been replaced with a transparent document-checking guide.
  • Privacy Ranking Withdrawn: How to Compare the Evidence: Retraction, September 10, 2026: Unsupported privacy scores and product endorsements have been removed. This address remains available to explain the correction.
  • Before Linking a Budgeting App to Your Bank: Updated September 10, 2026: Unsupported product-wide safety assurances and unverified regulatory conclusions have been removed.
  • Budgeting Without Bank Linking: A Manual Workflow: Updated September 10, 2026: Unverified app-specific limits and claims of tested workflows have been replaced with a clearly described manual process.
  • Noruvo Review: Earlier Test Rating Withdrawn: Retraction, September 10, 2026: The unsupported 4.8/5 rating, test narrative and product endorsement have been removed.
  • AI Grocery Lists: How to Check Whether They Help: Retraction and replacement, September 10, 2026: The claimed household pilot, receipt totals and measured grocery savings have been withdrawn. The replacement is a suggested comparison method with a labelled hypothetical example.
  • AI Budgeting Assistants: Claims to Check Before Use: Correction, September 10, 2026: Unsupported firsthand savings and accuracy claims have been removed.
  • Budgeting App Glossary: Terms Without the Hype: Updated September 10, 2026: Unverified product endorsements and claims of measured test accuracy have been removed.

Unverified staff credentials, corporate details, response-time promises and blanket privacy/funding assurances have also been removed from the about, contact, policy and author pages. The site uses automated AI drafting, review and publishing; earlier claims of universal human verification were incorrect.

Legacy rankings and linked articles

Historic test-based endorsements involving Noruvo, Quenzio and the AI budgeting league table are not substantiated by verified records and should not be relied on. They are no longer promoted in the current hub, home-page shortlist or recommendation blocks. Some older routes remain pending a separate content update.

Earlier corrections

On September 4, duplicate back-to-school and rate-watch URLs were consolidated and old Fezelo article URLs were redirected. The correction log's July CPI numbers were themselves wrong; use the September 10 corrected data note. The earlier date-specific rate assertions and rebrand narrative in this log are not repeated as newly verified facts.
